DISPOSAL INSTRUCTIONS
Disposal notice according to ElektroG
As a manufacturer, we are obligated under ElektroG from the time of offering electrical and electronic devices to inform private households about the following:
As an end user, you are legally obligated to return waste electrical and electronic equipment. Waste electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of in household waste but must be collected separately from unsorted household waste. Electrical devices, including our quartz watches, therefore do not belong in unsorted household waste. To improve waste separation, the ElektroG requires that electrical devices be marked with the following symbol (crossed-out trash bin):
The symbol indicates that many raw materials contained in electrical devices can be recycled. These raw materials should not be disposed of via household waste. A black bar under the crossed-out trash can indicates that the electrical device was placed on the market after 2005. As a manufacturer, we are obliged to take back electrical devices produced by us free of charge. If you wish to return an electrical device manufactured by us, please contact us at info@khs.net. We will then carry out proper and free disposal for you.
Waste device take-back according to law (Electrical waste category 5, small devices):
Legal formulation §18 (4) 3: The obligation of distributors to take back waste devices free of charge according to § 17 paragraphs 1 and 2,
Paragraph 1: when handing over a new electrical device to an end user, to take back an old device of the same device type from the end user, which essentially performs the same functions as the new device, free of charge at the place of handover or in its immediate vicinity, and
Paragraph 2: upon request of the end user, to take back waste devices that are not larger than 25 centimeters in any external dimension free of charge in the retail store or in its immediate vicinity; the take-back must not be linked to the purchase of an electrical or electronic device and is limited to three waste devices per device type.
The take-back must be ensured for electrical devices of category 5 and number 2 by suitable return options within a reasonable distance to the respective end user.
Electrical devices contain valuable resources as well as harmful substances. Therefore, every private end user is legally obliged to hand in electrical waste devices at an approved collection or return point, for example at a local recycling center or waste disposal site. Electrical waste devices are accepted there free of charge and recycled.
The company KHS e.K. is registered as a manufacturer with the WEEE registration number DE56794048 at the responsible Stiftung Elektro-Altgeräte Register in accordance with ElektroG. Further information on this topic can be found on the Federal Ministry for the Environment's website:

Disposal notice according to BattG
Our products sometimes contain batteries and accumulators, which partly contain valuable raw materials and unfortunately also harmful substances, and therefore do not belong in unsorted household waste. As a manufacturer, we are obliged to take back batteries and accumulators produced by us free of charge.
Dispose of batteries and accumulators in an environmentally friendly manner:
Legal formulation § 18 (4) 2: The removal obligation of end users for old batteries and accumulators as well as for lamps according to § 10 paragraph 1 sentence 2.
Paragraph 1: You must separate old batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed by the old device, as well as lamps that can be removed from the old device without damage, from the old device without damage before handing them over to a collection point. This does not apply if the old devices are handed over to a first treatment facility within the framework of a cooperation according to § 17b for the purpose of preparation for reuse or if old devices are separated to prepare them for reuse.
Batteries must not be disposed of in household waste. As an end user, you are legally obliged to ensure proper disposal of batteries and accumulators. You can hand in your old batteries free of charge at public collection points in your community or wherever batteries are sold. You can also return used batteries from our production to us. If you want to return batteries or accumulators from our production to us, please contact us via info@khs.net. We will then carry out a professional and free disposal for you.
Batteries containing hazardous substances are marked with a symbol consisting of a crossed-out trash bin and the chemical symbol (Cd, Hg, or Pb) of the heavy metal responsible for the classification as hazardous. The symbol depicts a crossed-out wheeled waste bin and means that batteries and accumulators must not be disposed of in household waste.
————
Personal responsibility and deletion of personal data
Legal formulation § 18 (4) 5 and 6: the personal responsibility of end users regarding the deletion of personal data on devices to be disposed of and the significance of the symbol according to Annex 3.
As an end user, you are responsible for deleting any personal data that may be on your old device.
